It can can get busy and it is important to book in advance, especially in March when the annual Port Fairy Folk Festival is held.
Here are some fun activities we did, despite the rather dismal weather.
The little island is easily reached via a causeway and is a great activity to do with the family. The island is bordered by the Moyne river and the ocean, and has a little light house, build in 1859. The island is also a breeding ground for Shearwater birds. Its offers an easy stroll for all ages.
The picture-perfect wharf area in Port Fairy is a must, wander along the Moyne River lined with beautiful houses on one side and boats along the other. Why not try a spot of fishing with the kids along one of the footbridges.
There is a scenic drive from Port Fairy to Yambuk along the Princes Highway, offering stunning views along the coast with a few lookouts. Why not make a pitstop along the way at the Yambuk Beach slide and lake for a picnic lunch.
We rented the lovely Regent Cottage which was perfect for our needs and located close enough to most shops and the supermarket.
